Football Brisbane recently welcomed Caboolture Sports Football Club to the zone after a 20 year absence from the Brisbane leagues, when a recent change was made to the zone boundaries; with the club confirmed it would switch zones from Sunshine Coast Football to Football Brisbane and relishing the opportunity to compete in Football Brisbane competitions in 2016.

Club President, Dwayne Sayers was asked what the move to Football Brisbane meant to the club and their ambitions for the future.

"Retention of players has been an issue. We rarely if ever lost players to Sunshine Coast, but constantly lost players to the bigger competitions available in Brisbane", he said.

He added, "Our plans are moving forward with a move into our very own multi-million dollar facility at Burpengary in a couple of years and our ambition will be to progress our juniors into SYL competition, and seniors into the Brisbane Premier League in the next few years."

Mr Sayers echoed the thoughts of the club's members, "Caboolture is closer to Brisbane more than ever now. More and more members work in Brisbane and will find it much easier with far less travel and the opportunity to spend more time at home on the weekends. We left Sunshine Coast Football on good terms and they understand the direction we are taking".

The club possesses a strong player base through juniors and seniors, mens and womens; with their focus to reach the highest levels in all ages. Just recently, 18 year old star striker Brenton Fox was signed by Hyundai A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers to play in their National Youth League side. Fox recently played in the Sunshine Coast Football Select XI v Football Brisbane Select XI where he was a stand out for the Sunshine Coast team.

Asked what the mood is at the club amongst the board, players, volunteers, parents, etc., to be in the Football Brisbane zone, Mr Sayers summarised, "It's a very exciting time for our club. The response from past and present players has been overwhelming." He added, "We realize we are taking on a massive project, but I am confident with the management team and our large competent band of volunteers we will be successful".

Caboolture Sports FC will certainly be providing some stiff competition to the league's they'll be competing in next season and we certainly look forward to eyeing their progress over the coming seasons ahead.
