Caboolture FC Season Wrap Up

It has been an exciting 2016 season with much more planned for the years ahead. One coup has been to secure additional funding for new football development which will be finalised in time for Caboolture Sports Football Club to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2019.

After having been part of Sunshine Coast Football, this season marked the return to Brisbane Football with most teams starting from the bottom of the new competition.

The senior men teams were placed in the Capital 4 group however their skill level became apparent from early on in the season with Caboolture winning all games, often with huge goal margins. Greenbank was defeated 20-0 in April and Brighton by 12-0 in June. The record for goals scored in one season was 166 goals back in 2000, and this record is in danger of tumbling thanks to the senior Caboolture men.

Several special clinics and development opportunities were organised for the Junior players this season and international, as well as national coaches, were brought in to work on ball skills.

The goal keepers were very excited to be able to receive a special coaching session with Jason Kearton, the Goal Keeper Coach for the Brisbane Roar!

This year two over-35 teams entered in the commercial league competition and this has been a great success. Not only did it provide great exercise opportunities it also represented a wonderful social outlet for the more than 50 men involved. Every Friday night after the teams compete, they have enjoyed a social drink and a catch-up to celebrate a hard fought victory or commiserate a loss.

Seven players from the Under 13 and 14 girls teams were selected for the school district regional trials. All the girls sides benefited greatly this season from fitness training specifically adjusted for football players provided by a qualified personal trainer for around 15 weeks.
