The first half of the Semi Finals weekend is over and out of five Semis played we have 5 winners:-

The Over 35’s Rusty Rattlers started the run on Friday night and won thru to their Grand Final after being drawn after 30 minutes of extra time and winning 4- 3 after Penalty Shootout. That’s 120 minutes of playing for the old fellahs, some sore and tired legs today.

FIrst up this morning our Junior Girls Under 13 Div 1 side continued their premiership winning ways and defeated Grange Thistle to win thru to their grand final game.

The Under 13 Div 2 Junior Boys defeated Redlands 5 - 2 to advance to their GF game. Congats to Aiden SKEA who scored 4 goals in the game.

Following the U13 Div 2’s win Coach Paul SHORTER then had to make a dash from Capalaba to Samford to coach the Reserve Cap 4 Mens. The Reserves were leading 1 - 0 and looked like taking the win only for Samford to score an equaliser with 2 minutes to go. It was still tied 1 a piece at the end of extra time and the lads won the penalty shootout to advance straight thru to the grand Final in 2 weeks time and earning next weekend off. This was a Hat-trick for SHORTER having played for the Rusty Rattlers last night and then coaching the 13/2’s and Reserves today.

While the Reserves were playing at Samford our 4th placed Capital Womens took on third placed Ipswich Knights at Ipswich and advanced to next weeks Preliminary Final with a 4 -1 win.

Well done everyone and congratulations on your deserved wins.

What a weekend we’ve had with 5 teams on Saturday winning their games and yesterday we had a further 6 teams playing Finals football First up saw our Under 14 Div 2 Boys playing Southside United at Dalton Park at Clontarf and despite struggling to play their best football they managed a 1 nil win to advance to their Grand final next weekend. Next up the Under 15 Div 2 boys played over at Inala against Samford Rangers and according to the Team Manager “smashed it” and defeated the Rangers 3-1. Keeper Riley Dodds then did a mad scramble to Darra to suit up for the Under 16 Div 3 team. The 16/3’s played Annerley and were without their regular Keeper Tom BERBER who has been hospitalised with an unknown virus and with FB’s permission Riley filled in for the team although he was probably regretting it at the 17th minute when he was knocked out and taken to hospital by the Ambulance. Ironically it was the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital where Tom was in the Renal Unit that Riley was taken to. After starting off on fire the lads scored in the 6th minute to lead 1-0 but then seemed to switch off and were down 2-1 at half time. Annerley continued to dominate and were leading 4 -1 with 10 minutes to go and the 16’s decided to play football again and scored 2 goals in 4 minutes to behind by 1 with 5 minutes to go. Annerley’s defence remained resolute and held them out despite Cabo’s continual attack. Once again back at Dalton Park our Under 14 Div 4 Boys played Peninsula Power who were not on their game and the Cabo 14/4’s blew them way 4-0 to win the semi and advance to the final The Under 14 Div 1 girls looked to continue the great run of our Women’s teams when they played 3rd placed Mitchelton. It was not an easy game with the scores locked at full time and then again after extra time and so to another Penalty Shootout. Goal keeper Bronte Aranovitch became the hero make 3 penalty saves in the shootout and our girls joined the other women’s teams in advancing to the finals. The last Caboolture team to play in the weekends Semi Finals was our Capital 4 League Men who played the Cap 4 Premiers St George Willawong who they had lost to the previous week. The “Cabo” men were determined to show they deserved their promotion and outplayed and out enthused St George to come away with a 3 - 0 thumping of their arch opponents and joined the cap 4 reserve Mens to go straight into the Grand Finals in 2 weeks time. Congratulations to all our teams who made it thru to the next stage and bad luck to the 16 Boys who have such a remarkable season. 10 out of 11 teams are thru to the next stage. Excellent stuff and CMON CABO.
